Once the chaos of the flock died down, the singular fluttering of a set of wings behind him caught in his ears. He turned to look at the surrounding forest with agitation written across his face; Reyes' entire body was coiled as if to defend an attack, his scruff spiked and tail raised, puffing out. It was a brief moment of uncontrollable anger — but then he saw the stranger.

They looked thin, somewhat ragged. Young, too. Although wolves could only glean a general sense of a stranger's health and age by their scent, nothing was amiss with this one... At least until he adjusted and faced her properly, seeing a strange shape within the shadows on her face. A scar of some kind — starkly mutilated.

It didn't look fresh. It didn't look very good either.
