Lane dismissed the apology with a shake of her head. "It's fine. You're far from the only one guilty of snap judgements." Lane often found herself walking back her own judgements of others. "..But few are open-minded enough to change their initial opinion, and fewer still are humble enough to admit a mistake." She nudged Veteran pointedly on the shoulder. 

The boy chose that moment to spit out his rather forthright question. Lane nodded in approval. "Thanks, kiddo. I completely forgot to ask." She turned to Askari and addressed her next. "Veteran likes me to do things by the book. So what brings you to us?" Her tail waived cheerily, which would likely earn Veteran's disapproval.
