Oh. Ashlar shouldn't have been surprised, that he was the only one feeling conflicted about it. He didn't even fully understand what it was he felt, only that it sat at odds with who he had thought he was. Not enough to change him - only enough for doubt to creep in.

Yeah. Ashlar looked down, not sure what he could add. He had a few questions, but none were really... right. I think... it's.... just, um. It's not for me. His mouth was dry, his voice quiet. He wasn't sure why he admitted this, but he wanted someone to acknowledge it. Maybe to tell him that he was right.
