he reared up beside her. he put his massive paws against the side of the lead bull's head as the animal shuddered and rippled beneath them with its final labored breaths. he licked frantically at where the horn had stabbed into her skin. his teeth were unfit for the thick links of her chain, though gnaw at it he did until his jaw ached.

augur descended and this time he panted, pushing his spine under her hindpaws to give her leverage, hoping she would not continue to strangle.
