Crazy was a severe understatement. Lestan’s condition had only worsened since the loss of his trinket. Day by day, he grew more frightening, more wild. His gaze remained dark and cold, gone far away from the ground they walked. 

Ellie said that she did not want to leave him. Swordfish struggled to suppress a snort. 

Dunno if he’d notice. 

But the guilt ate at him as well. As mad as Lestan grew, Swordfish had not considered slipping away in the night. The problem had seemed a simple one. Retrieve the bone and restore Lestan’s sanity. After wandering the wilds with no sense of direction, it did not seem a simple thing. 

Y’know… ya could slip out. Visit any packs in the area. Let ‘em know ‘bout these two thieves. That we’re lookin’ fer his- thing. At least then they might have a chance. More eyes to search, the greater their odds.
