It surprised Seal that, for all his size and strength, Rhonen replied so meekly. A thick stutter interruprted the cadence of the yearling’s words as he, politely, refused her offer.
Seal didn’t take it personally. She knew his and Lotus’ lives had been uprooted. He was still settling in.
Maybe I should approach this from a different angle, she thought to herself.
“Okay,” she replied with a small smile, “tis’ nae problem. I’ll leave it here in case you want it later, alright?” she said and put the bird aside.
“I’m so happy you an’ your family are here,” she assured him. "The Copse was gettin' quite sleepy with just my Grandmother and Towhee Jr!" she jested.
