Nocturne Summit BWP3: PREY OPPORTUNITY

There was nothing for a good while. A vast, empty space filled with nothing but the ringing noise and white, lots of it. The ringing voice started to die down and the light dimmed ever so slightly. He squinted his eyes — though on the outside he only furrowed his brows — as he tried to make out his surroundings. He saw a meadow, green and full — funny, he'd nearly forgotten what that looked like — lush, full of life, full of prey.

Moon and sun both shone on opposite sides of the meadow. A paw twitched as on the outside, Amekaze ran her nose past him and on the inside, he walked slowly through the meadow, feeling oddly at peace. He wandered towards the moonlit side of the meadow, looking about, feeling in place, and in the distance he saw someone standing there.

Once he was close enough, Charon could make out that it was Dhole. He halted, but she smiled at him and beckoned him closer. And he obeyed. He approached her, and ran his nose alongside hers, breathed in her scent, which was the same as before, and moved his nose along her cheek towards her ear, which he nibbled. She leaned into him, and he felt oddly at peace.

After what felt like an infinite silence she said to him, I forgive you. Maybe this was supposed to bring him more peace. Maybe he was supposed to stay here, with her, until infinity. But whatever might've, could've or should've been, what happened was a snarl spreading across his face, ferocious and angry — how dare you.

Without another warning the peace was broken and Charon went for her neck, snapping teeth around Dhole's neck and listening to her screams. He put a paw on her back and continued to tear at her neck, blood gushing everywhere and her screams echoing throughout the now blood-soaked meadow.

Screams still rung in his blood-soaked mind when he snapped into consciousness, a ferocious snarl ripping through the air. Disappointment was present when he did not feel Dhole's fur between his teeth and her blood streaming down his chest. All he felt was the smarting of his face and his own blood dripping to the earth. When he tried to get up his head felt dizzy, knees wobbly, and he looked straight at Amekaze's face while he allowed the disappointment of his vanished revenge to sink in.
