More wolves showed up but Maia didn't notice.  She was quickly and completely overwhelmed by the two who did hold her attention.  Her teeth had scarcely reached the doe before Hydra's muzzle caught hers, fangs scoring across and grabbing hold to force her away.  As Arcturus grabbed her from behind she flattened, and immediately all of the fight left her.  She let out a low whine, but desperation wasn't enough to drive her to get herself killed.

Maia had fancied herself a valkyrie many times, but in truth she was no fighter.  To her fighting was a game and war was glorious, and by sticking with stories she kept it that way.  In real life, she had no interest and no ability.  She caved immediately, and allowed herself to be backed out and away.  Likely she'd turn to depart into the snows before they even finished.  It was clear there would be nothing left for her.

this can be her last unless they take issue with her slipping away!
