She seemed to take his suggestion to paint rather literally when really, his intention had been to start smearing mud all over her. Perhaps it was for the better, for she did then volunteer to sit there while he "painted" and criticize him. Apparently, she didn't suspect just how much criticism there'd be to share.

Content and entertained, Fig heaved an exaggerated sigh. "Fine, have it your way," he replied, "There's a cache not too far where I stuck a pheasant the other day. Let's go see if it hasn't been taken yet." With a nudge to show her the new direction, he set off again.
