The blackness seemed to linger, even when she opened her eyes, until she could make out shapes. Shapes, then sounds too. The fight, it was still happening. She could not lift her head to look, but her eyes searched, and her head was propped up upon a rock. Mercy. That was what she heard. But it was not what she thought as she stared at the man who had struck her down. Revulsion, fear, the sound of her heart hammering against her chest. Be brave, was what she thought, her eyes upon Osiris now. Braver than she could ever be, then.
