The last time that Eljay had gone out of the territory... It must've been when he and Maia went searching for Elfie and visited that kind pack that had let them stay for a while. Actually, the last time that Eljay had been outside of the pack territories that wasn't searching for Elfie was probably when he had gone to the falls... With Elfie. It wasn't because he had wanted to leave the territory, but because he'd tried to stop Elfie from running off on his own. Eljay frowned as he thought about that moment. There were so many things that he wished he'd done better, but not just in that moment, but leading up to it. He'd pushed Elfie away with his protectiveness, and while he only wanted to keep Elfie safe, he couldn't do that. Actually, it was probably largely due to him pushing Elfie away that he'd got hurt or lost or worse -- that he wasn't in Eljay's life anymore. Eljay wondered idly if Elfie would want to see him again, find him back, even if he had got hurt and lost. As he encroached on the stretch of river where they'd crossed towards the falls, he felt his stomach knot together while he thought back to Elfie's honing words and thought, probably not. He still hoped so, though, and above all, he found himself hoping that wherever he was, Elfie was happy. Even if it meant never seeing him again, however painful the thought.

Eljay stood and mused at the edge of the water of the river that was leading up to the falls, feeling nervous and tense being outside of pack territories, but also knowing that he needed to get braver and get used to it. He was the only wolf he knew that never left. Even his sweet daughter explored every now and then, despite being a homebody.
