And then the pups made their way into the world, and very quickly Rue's wanting feeling shifted onto them. She wanted to scoop them up to protect them. She wanted to quiet their cries with soft kisses, pulling them in toward the warmth of her own body. The feeling was overwhelming, rooting Rue in place.
