All Welcome
The night was quiet when she finally emerged from the haze of herbalism. She thought she’d inhaled enough herbs to be quite sick of them by now, so she took several steps out of the garden of herbs stacked in her den and sighed shortly.

The moon hung overhead, wrapping the world in delicate threads of silver and chasing out the color. She felt monotone there, between the trees as she walked to the edge of one of the creeks, as though the shadows and darkness remade her from flesh into a drawing upon a page. Made of sketched lines, being slowly flipped through to show the motion. She didn’t feel real. The hazy curve of her black and white body in the shadows and dappled moonlight didn’t feel real. She felt both alive and dead, awake and asleep.

Perhaps that was her problem. Perhaps she needed to sleep. To stop her work and look around her. She didn’t remember the last time she’d spoken to anyone beyond the herbs she doled out and took to those who requested them. She felt like she hadn’t had a meaningful conversation in some time.

Faun stopped there, by the water, staring at her blurred face in the creek’s running water, and wondered where the droplets that kept disturbing the water were dropping from. It wasn’t raining, she thought, and yet the drips didn’t stop. The tears carving down her cheeks went unnoticed entirely.

A brief moment to herself. To relieve herself, take a drink and move away from the haze of motherhood. Though she loved the four children that slept at her side. She also loved her independence and when Ingram could give it to her, she took it. Though this was more a movement of necessity rather than luxury.

Though as she approached the water, she studied the girl that stood staring into it with tears in her face. She briefly thought of leaving her to it, but a small part of her couldn't let that be. So with head held high she moved forward. This was the girl Faun if she wasn't mistaken. She smelled of herbs and dirt. Something that Ash Paw could understand.

She chuffed quietly and stood still. Her body still rounded from children, though it was losing it's curvier parts. Though she knew she would always have that small curvature from birth now.

The voice was familiar, and Faun scrambled to put herself to rights. She looked up from the water with a small smile towards the rounded woman.

G-Good evening! She tried, voice shaky with her tears, before she looked away to the water, clearing her throat.

My apologies. Did you need anything? She felt like an idiot in that moment.

Ash Paw raised her head a little higher. "You needn't apologize for your feelings and certainly not to me. Sometimes a good cry is all you really need. So that leaves me to ask. Is there anything I can help with for you?"

Ash Paw curled her tail around her paws as she settled to her haunches. Calico coat shimmering in the late evening hour. She waited patiently, head tilted to the side, blue eyes on the girl.

Perhaps she would simply ignore Ash and move on with her day, but Ash didn't want it to be said she didn't help when she could. Especially a fellow healer.
