After about a quarter-moon, it was time to head out. @Fennec was obviously languishing, and while he enjoyed the time with his buddy, he knew that a) his mom wanted to GTFO, and b) @Caracal should spend as much time as possible caring for his pregnant wife instead of cavorting around with him.

Still, he was slightly verklempt in bidding the island farewell. When would he see them again? He probably couldn't spare the time until their pack—or whatever pack they ended up joining—was established and secure enough that he could leave Fennec behind without guilt.

At least, he thought to himself as they departed, his mother wouldn't be able to see his backward glances. And there were many of them.
