All Welcome
As if teething hadn't been bad enough, the growing pains were now worse, and made Cygnet more moody and irritable. She was seldom still, and roved throughout the pack's claim like a caged animal, having found that rigorous exercise seemed to help temporarily numb the pain that threaded through her frame. She had a ravenous appetite, and investigated every set of tracks that crossed her path.

Ruthlessly, she felt little shame in raiding a cache when she found one. She was the youngest in the pack, and her body screamed at her to eat, eat, eat. Weaving through the bushes like a wily ferret, she followed her nose to a fresh patch of disturbed earth- and promptly began to dig up whatever it was that had been buried there.

Somehow, Ridge hadn't expected to find children in this place. Not, at least, children as young as this one. He watched her for a time, marveling at her smallness from a distance. There was no minder in sight; this made him nervous, but it also seemed like a golden opportunity. He missed this age; there had been no new puppies at home the last time he'd visited.

He snuck up behind her while she dug for scraps.

"You got some nose on you, little sister," he said when he had her in his shadow.

Let me know if I should edit!

The pale girl nearly jumped out of her skin when a voice came from behind her. She pounced high into the air and spun around, landing somewhat clumsily with her paws splayed, hovering over the partially unearthed rabbit, her eyes widening as she saw a wolf she didn't recognize, close enough to block out the sunlight.

She felt panic course through her like a bolt of electricity and bared her teeth in an ungainly snarl, uttering a hostile growl made unsteady by her changing vocal chords. She drew in a ragged breath and snapped her teeth twice. She took one stiff step forward and raised her short tail, brazenly demanding that he back off.

The girl's reaction did not disappoint. Blue Ridge felt a twinge of guilt for frightening her so, but it filled him with nostalgia to see her small maw glinting with rows of babywhite teeth. It would undoubtedly hurt if the little cactus jaw got ahold of any part of him, but this was something the northerner would bear in good humor. He would only have himself to blame, after all.

"I ain't after your supper, girl," he said with a tiny huff of laughter, reeling back several steps. The jump-scare had been fun, but he felt no need to go around menacing children. "Shoot — there's hardly enough there for you, ain't that so?"

His laughter was ill-received.

The girl recoiled momentarily, a cobra gathering itself tense and when he began to move back, she struck. Aiming to keep him moving away from her, she snapped at his heels in an effort to herd him backwards. She didn't recognize him, and figured that even if he was a member of the pack, he ought to find himself a comfortable seat- at the bottom of the heirarchy, for having surprised her so.
