All Welcome
No need to match the written length. Open to any encounters, friendly or unfriendly.

Bjorn had trekked out from Kvarheim’s lands to a place called Lost Creek Hollow. His legs carried him at a canter, at times reduced to a brisk trot, till the cathedral of trees had come into view. As he approached the entrance, he could feel the cooling temperature as the vast, wide canopy shaded those who entered from the bright sun. He had started his trek early, just before the sun, and the late morning temperature was rising, but he found reprieve below the trees.

He followed little creeks with grew in size to streams, then the water collected in pools. He continued onward, westward, his curiosity piqued as the bodies of water started to come together. Once he stopped, to rest, to take a breath, his ears turned to the sound of rushing water. Not just any rushing water, however, but was it truly what he thought it was? He went further west and lo and behold, his hunch was right: A waterfall lay before his very eyes, filling an even deeper pool.

He moved to the waters edge, mist spraying his face, as he looked down into the water. There were salmon! Yes! He hit a treasure trove of young salmon. Chum.

Now, there was only one thing to do: Sit and wait for the right moment to dive in and grab his prize. His whole focus was on the fish in the water, blocking out the background.

SPLASH

hhack!

with flailing limbs the bitch fell into the pool, still attempting to swat away the angered bees.

hhack you, hhack you, hhack you! her paw beat the water, shooing away the bugs which had - aha! - begun to retreat.

yeah haack ohhh, go to helll! she barked after them as their buzzing faded back into the trees. no'ody hhacksh 'ith ee! arf!

a win!

the mastiff remained chest deep in the water, high tail wagging, full of pride.

... until something made her head turn, wringing out her neck folds until she was looking over her shoulder at a man whose appearance made something in the coal-powered machine of her brain sputter.

her tail dropped.

...

then wagged again.

hi!

she had no fucking idea who this was.

It was peaceful, this time he had to himself, waiting on a fish to swim by and give itself away to the hungry jaws of the bear man.

However, someone, or something, had other plans. Bjorn jumped to him feet, his hackles raised and body battle ready when a big splash and incessant yelling cried out. He looked around frantically, until his eyes lay dead on a rusted red creature in the water, wading chest deep. It took him some time, but soon enough, the face of this creature rung a bell from the back of his mind:

“Oh no….” He sighed, once he was taken back in memory to the winter time, “Hello!” He called out, not wanting to seem like a fuddy dud. “Can I help you miss?”

He had nothing to guard, so there was no need for protective measures, as they were well outside the reach of Kvarsheim. He tried his best to smother his hackles, but after a jump scare like that, it was hard to relax one’s self.
