All Welcome

Mature Content Warning

This thread has been marked as mature. By reading and/or participating in this thread, you acknowledge that you are of age or have permission from your parents to do so.

The participants have indicated the following reason(s) for this warning: language

@Juárez @Soto @Thiago @Lanza @Carlos @Mireya Torres @Tierra (if you want her to be here) aw to cartel! takes place directly after this

There’s a cardinal rule in the cartel:
Don’t fuck with someone until you know exactly who you’re fucking with.
Well, for all Niño knew, it’d been broken.
And that meant war had come to Naaghai.

He delivered Soto to the shade of the white stone.
Then he called for the cartel; called all to see how their jefe had been maimed.
Called all to rally.

She could have left. Some part of Tierra, a pretty loud part actually, knew she should leave. But she didn’t. This wasn’t the kind of crowd she’d ever have considered hers, and it was stupid to think that now, but it stroked her ego and made her feel special to be involved in something so clearly over her head. They could kill her, but they didn’t.

Besides, they were the ones with the supply. She couldn’t get it if she left.

She recognized his voice and sauntered to the summons, willing to come but only at her own pace. There was a guy with him, pretty fucked up from the looks of it.

That made sense, they were like, criminals right? She didn’t dwell on what he might have done to earn those injuries. Instead she hung back, listening and watching with some interest. Whatever this was felt important and she hoped she’d be able to understand at least something out of it.

once again, niño is a good boy. he does what he's told. the cartel's a little fuller now that niño sees to it their lost lamb is returned to the flock.

he gazes at the faces, resting on tierra just long enough to register she's new. but then it is back to niño and juarez that he speaks.

in the cartel, there is omerta. muat-riya had learned nothing from soto -- but he had learned plenty from muat-riya. ellos son pequeños. he starts, unfolding himself in a position more comfortable before he shares it all to his audience -- both his own brutality, and that of khusobek's during these last three weeks.

like a roach underfoot, he's impossible to kill.

Finally, there is that voice calling to them.

By now Thiago's body has been without the drug for long enough that he's almost okay, but he's also alone; unaware of where his brother Carlos ended up.

He had wandered everywhere in search of the cartel, or herbs, or food — and that call, that was something holy to behold.

Thiago descends upon the gathering people, most of which are familiar, with his tail tucked tightly to his belly; but by all other accounts he is gregarious.

Open-mouth panting, reaching with every step, and crowding too close to each person, as if to check they're real.

Muat-riya’s small.
Need Niño say it?
They are, too.
Where is Juárez? Carlos? Soto’s out.
Didn’t know when he’d be right to fight again.

“Nosotros vamos ahora.”
Wasn’t like him to speak so bluntly in front of jefe.
But hell, someone had to.
What were they gonna do, sit around and give the pack wolves time to organize?

“Toma cabeza del hombre rojo,” he spoke as Thiago gathered.
Followed Soto’s gaze to Sangre and felt himself stiffen.
More he treated her different, more los jefe’s would want her for themselves.
“Sangre,” he summoned, eyes ceasing their hold on her to push back into Soto’s wounded face.

“Ahora,” grunts again, agitation in a thrusted paw.
Let them move now.

Tierra moved away when an unfamiliar man approached and seemed keen on invading her personal space. No thanks, dude. He didn’t have the same air of menace that some of the others had and she wasn’t up for distraction right now.

The menace that, all too soon, was directed her way. She’d learned, at this point, that Sangre was the name he’d given her. Assuming that, she hadn’t corrected him. He was interesting and right now he had what she wanted. That didn’t mean he needed her actual name. To all of them she’d stay Sangre.

She only stared back a moment before accepting and coming to the summons. She prickled at the authority, but something in his and Soto’s shared attention (for once) made her cautious.

What? She wouldn’t argue but she wouldn’t cower under them either. If she was sticking around then she was nobody’s pet.

There was trouble. And she was starting to get the feeling, whatever was coming, they might need her for it. She might be able to use that.
