Well, the lake was quite large.
You see, the Taggerung had followed the winding river from the forest. After his talk with the lady of Moonglow, he had been bewitched by the sound of it.
The Taggerung hummed a merry tune as he approached the edge of the lake. The sun had made the world warm, muggy, but the lake looked a splendid and peaceful blue.
As a bard should, he sang aloud.

O'er the warm an evergreen to waves o lapping blue, and laughed only for himself.

Yeah, the lake was big. Too big. How long had it been here? Reyes couldn't recall ever venturing too close to it. But, it was water — big water, though not quite oceanic in size — and he wasn't so keen on that fact.
That said, Reyes was trying to find the fastest route between Brecheliant and the Caldera, which meant circumnavigating the whole of creation — or at least the lakeside.
That's what he was doing when the sound of singing trembled through the air.
Reyes gave one cursory glance over his shoulder, speculating over whether he should leave the area or risk an encounter (potentially with a Redhawk, who didn't have a high opinion of him from what he'd gathered so far), when he noticed the rough-shod silhouette of a stranger, bowed to the water.

The Taggerung shall wander on to fragrant fields anew, the bard finished singing and turned his sights beyond-
A red stranger! Decked in shades of crimson and scarlet unlike any that the Taggerung had ever seen. He gawked for several seconds before he drew a quick drink from the water and turned toward the stranger.
Of course, he hummed as he trotted steadily toward the crimson body. The water of the lake lapped lazily toward his paws, but the Taggerung paid it no mind. The silver of his gaze latched firmly on the shape of the wolf ahead, he was delighted.
Hello there! You’ve a marvelous fur coat, I must say,the Taggerung called out once he was near enough to do so.
The red fellow didn't seem to want anything to do with Tagg, so the bard carried on, humming as he went.
