For @Ashlar <3
None of the Medeiros siblings were healers. Not since Rose had died, and O— his lost sister had given up the practice. So it was only to be expected when the infection set in. Tybault remained in denial, of course, until it was almost too late.
Or was it too late? Tybault blinked and realized that he did not know where he was. He did not know when he had wandered. Was this what dying was? This strange pull, this urge to crawl away and find somewhere safe and hidden and isolated and... just sleep. Sleep, and never wake. He drew in a breath and found it painful for the way it expanded his throat and his chest. This forest was a decent place to die. He settled in the melting snow and wondered if his eyes were glassy right now, the way his sister's often were. He didn't think about anything else for a long time.

He was hunting again when he found another one. This one who needed help was familiar. Ashlar’s tail immediately tucked with worry as he spotted the man, and he rushed over as soon as he recognized him.

Are you okay? Of course he wasn’t, but the healer was more interested in if he was awake and present enough to answer. He looked bad.

Would Avicus mind if he took him to the rise? How would he manage it? Ashlar’s mind raced as he nosed Tybalt’s neck to check his pulse, his breathing. He would need to get supplies from home.
