✴ When it was clear that the void-mother was not there with them (perhaps taking a necessary break) the child's calls became more dire. He felt marooned within a cacophonous sea, but was intent on rescuing himself with kicks and nudges, as if bludgeoning his siblings would silence them. In the process of doing this he managed to roll himself off of the puppy pile and on to the dusty floor, where he sat for a moment in stunned silence.
The den was dark but warm, and yet Revui was led closer and closer to the entrance where the sun was beaming down and baking the earth. It might've been morning, or midday, there was no sense of time to one so young. He was attracted to the light like a shark to blood — and his lack of coordination meant it took him ample time to reach the den's opening.
He stopped as soon as he met the light, as if it were a physical object or a blockade, and plopped down upon his belly in the dust.
