Aure had thought the sun-stone of a male would have landed as she did—on his paws, lungs fervently flourishing for chilling air. But no. No, he did not.

Instead, in the glacier’s gloam, they’d staggered into one another, and, entirely winded, she'd tipped gracelessly onto her back. And now there was a male, chinning at her breast. Never in her life had she felt ribs heaving against her belly... or back, for that matter. She supposed they were even, now; and she felt bad for him, rather than herself. The brana was nothing but thin bones heaped with too-generous fur.

Not the most desirable female to, er, lie with. She tried to speak, but all that left her was a strangled, airless little noise. Aure promptly clamped her jaw shut, and settled for squirming against the body atop of her own; doing an admirable effort of trying to ignore the breath at her cheek and the great muscles straining along her lack thereof.

All she could do was sputter and blush, and pray this golden stranger wouldn’t notice, despite their other harrowing situation.
