It was certainly good now that he hadn't gone and found that chick. One thing that may or may not end up foiling her plans was that in the latest gap between meets, Mal had done quite a bit of growing up -- mentally at least. He wasn't a scruffy adolescent any more, but a reasonably respectable adult, even if he sometimes made some pretty stupid choices. But didn't everyone?
He hadn't seen her initially appear, and it took him a second or two to figure out who it was -- the good thing was that a further scan of the horizon showed no other Moonspear people unless they were hiding in a damn hole. Ha, the good thing about winter and open fields! Would she be as much of a twerp if she was solo? Eh. It's Moonspear, probably. Mal, on the other hand, went the other metaphorical direction.
