She gave him a small smile, but it quickly fell away and left a concerned frown in its place. She had sought him out to speak of what she and Zephyr had discussed, but she realized when seeing Taikon how tired and thin he looked and that she had yet to bring it up. She decided that the topic of Zephyr's tasks could wait a moment while she expressed her concern over him not taking proper care of himself, especially with a long journey ahead of him. You look tired, she began, stopping to inspect the scent of a tree and then moving on when she decided it was marked sufficiently by someone else. I know you have not been sleeping well. She was a light sleeper and could feel him toss and turn beside her at night. And you have lost more weight since getting here, even though we are not on the move anymore. She knew that was partly her fault; she had allowed him to pick up the slack while she healed and thought maybe she should have been more insistent that he eat, as well. You are about to travel back over the mountains; you should be resting and eating—preparing, she said gently. Then she swallowed against the lump of worry in her throat. You are supposed to come back in one piece, she reminded him. How could he do that if he left here in bad condition for traveling?
