The decision wasn't easy. But then again, the decision to stay hadn't been entirely his. That had been his migraine's decision. He had told both @Fennec and @Towhee that he was going to search for Niamh. He knew that Towhee was due soon, but Niamh was out there, potentially alone, and he couldn't bear the thought of it, no matter how cruel she might have been to him. Phox wished he could hold a grudge, but in the end, he found it impossible to do so. He had to find her; he had to find their children; he had to keep them all safe.
Her trail led north, and Phox began the arduous process of following it. He lost it a few times, meandering this way and that, but he never lost hope. If the Redhawk was one thing, it was determined. And he was determined to find her. She had a day's lead on him, but he was a seasoned tracker, and she was impeded by her still-healing leg (not to mention the extra passengers on board). Even with those advantages on his part, Phox still trailed behind.
He stopped for the night at the hot springs, letting his feet soak in a shallow pool before curling up and resting his head beneath his tail. Tomorrow, he would continue the search.
