He didn't want her to run any risks, and lately, everything was beginning to smell like a risk. Eljay nosed his mate, who'd been napping with him at their 'napping spot' (and likely, whelpling den to be), and murmured softly in her ear, I'll call you if they really need you, Mrs. Blackthorn. Then he got up and started heading towards the borders.

When he got there, Teya was already there. He hadn't seen her proper in a while, and he'd been in much worse state at the time.
