He'd taken Bronco's hospitality in stride, though felt guilty with every day he lingered here. He knew Fennec was waiting for him; she could undoubtedly care for himself, but he hated leaving her. . .well, wherever. She was counting on him to return.

And he would!

But he was enjoying his father's company for now, as well as that of like-minded wolves. Plus, he could better explore the land of his birth. He strolled around the caldera now, slipping through the trees, admiring the early buds upon some of them.

Spring was coming, slowly but surely. Faster here than in the mountain range, he noted. And he was all for it. 

He was ready for the warmth to come again.
