it was not the child of red woman who answered, but a man hooded in obsidian. he reminded mountain boulder at once of shadows deepening upon snow as sun fell behind a ridge. 

snow shadow took his attention for a moment. but then mountain boulder took up his cry once more, beseeching thorn caller.
