Dawnlark Plains Moonrise Kingdom, only made for two

Ruenna was on her way to returning to her alpha's side; she had set off on a little side-mission tracking down that fox, hoping that if she caught up with the vulpine hunter she might be able to snatch its prize. Despite her efforts, she was returning empty-handed. Perhaps the rabbit had escaped the fox entirely; both trails had dwindled to the point of going cold. It seemed as if both creatures had simply evaporated into the silent, gleaming expanze of white. If Rue didn't rejoin her soon, Liri might do the same. 

Rue's ears lifted at what sounded like a low chuff off in the distance. If the plains hadn't been so eerily silent, she might not have heard the sound at all. Rue squinted against the harsh glare of her surroundings, but she couldn't make out the source of the noise. She didn't think it had sounded like Liri, but she directed her progress toward the sound anyway, simply out of curiosity.
