backdated to April 1 because I iz slooooooww.

He hadn't left things with Treepie in the way he wanted to. Truthfully, he never would. As he took his leave, Killdeer struggled not to look back, lest he give into the guilt and regret that had plagued him ever since he'd broached the subject with her.

She would be fine. Alaric was by her side—and he'd come to visit soon enough, anyway. The Caldera and the Spear would be allies, just like in times of old.

Not that he knew much about that. Surely @Towhee had all the details, though.

And speaking of his Gramma—

She'll be excited we're finally here, he told @Amalia with a smile, as the thicket of the Bramblepoint gave way to a gentle upward slope. He paused and lifted his leg, leaving his scent upon a particularly gnarled oak. I know she's been waiting for us.

Was Amalia happy? Killdeer thought so. She'd said as much, anyway.

Still, he kept close to her side, giving her an encouraging nuzzle to the cheek as they began to ascend—and felt his heart lift at the familiar sights and sounds and smells of the place he'd been born and raised.
