He stands like a watchtower and tracks her movement as Keen rises and turns - his sister, seemingly hesitant, and he, silent, still, and uncertain what to do. Does he move toward her? Does he stay and wait? But she makes that decision, and suddenly, she is beside him, and he is met by her embrace and the angular jut of her bones. She feels almost breakable as she burrows her face into his fur, and he feels a weight push upon his shoulders and the crest of his brow, joining with the heaviness he already carries with his father's departure.

The tension nestles between the crook of his shoulders and doesn't leave, and he turns and offers a kiss to the part of her cheek he can reach, even as a storm brews like a cloud in his mind. What's wrong? he finally asks, his voice a soft rumble and still edged with the pitch of youth, despite how deep it has grown.
