With Myrren in her... delicate state, Rue had resolved to keep a close eye on the other Plateau refugee. Although she was no longer Myrren's leader, protective feelings still lingered. 

Rue lurked in the trees, listening. She was distant enough to be removed from the interaction but close enough for their words to reach her ears. 

Myrren and Constantine addressed another Diaspora wolf who had come sniffing at their borders. "Mahler," Constantine called him. Was Mahler here to collect his lovesick packmate? Or was he also here to seek out a mate among the plentiful Creek women? Unless Constantine wanted his ranks filled with pregnant subordinates, he would need to put an end to this.
