1. Something happens and your character gains a superpower

pup-life was the sweet-life, according to weejay. you had free room service, endless sources of cuddles, food whenever you wanted it (although as of late, weejay had noticed the milk drying up, no pun intended), and endless free time to romp and to play with willing friends.

only today, weejay woke up and saw the most peculiar thing. around her a veritable garden had grown; there were lilacs and orchids and forsythia, all woven together like nature's handbasket -- roses, tulips, a bed of soft clover underneath her belly... she blinked, confused but entirely delighted; where had the flowers come from?

rising from her bed of luscious clover and moss with a luxurious yawn, weejay gently stepped over a hem of daisies. as she did so, she stepped on the dull and flat surface of the den -- suddenly, what was bare and drab became splendid. a wreath of moss, vibrant and green, grew underfoot. the longer she stood, the more greens curled and fluttered around her feet; a tapestry woven of green and pink and spring-time yellow; if she stood too long, the plants folded and withered.

carefully, weejay placed her paw on another bare stretch of substrate. this time sunflowers burst from the ground, rising steadily until they were six feet high; their faces burst in a supernove of yellow, while daffodils and poppies bobbed their heads underneath.

this was too much for weejay -- with a trill of excitement the girl skipped across the den, flowers shooting up from the ground with every step. she had to show @Elfie this, immediately!

Gender switch challenge.

Elfie was not yet old enough to be gender-aware and understand, why and how exactly boys were different from girls. He was a bit too round and unproportional to be able to either see or reach his rear (though he occasionally managed to grab hold of his hind paw and thus get stuck for a while), so in the morning, when he woke up being a little lovely girl instead of a boy, he did not perceive a change.

BUT - since it is a challenge, let's assume that a propeller hat and Batman T-shirt he had been proudly wearing up until yesterday was exchanged to a shiny, plastic princess crown and pink tutu skirt around his middle. And let's stretch reality a bit more and invent a lovely framed mirror right outside the den they lived in. There the boy was staring at his own reflection in surprise and awe, when Weejay happened to prance nearby with her newly acquired (and super-cool) super power. Elfie turned around to greet her, but something prodded him right in the round belly and the next thing he new, he was lifted off ground and was perched atop a little bush.

"HEY!" he exclaimed in a squeaky girl voice (that naturally was nothing like his boyish serious voice) and moved his paws a bit to free himself from the green trap, but failing. "WHAT DID YOU DOOOO?" he asked, looking accusingly at his (her) sister.

oh my god could elfie be any cuter? THE ANSWER IS YES

skipping through the rosebrush of her own making, weejay paused only when an indignant squeak sounded out nearby. she froze, looking around her - it did not occur her to look up, but when she did, she saw her brother dangling atop a bush higher than wildfire stood.

weejay giggled, having no conceptual awareness of dangerousness; pressing the ground, she rose to elfie's level on a wide and rather ridiculously fat lily-pad. it bobbled in the air like apples in water, but weejay didn't care. she was too transfixed by her newfound power and the fact that her brother sounded different."you sound like a girl," weejay teased, nosing elfie's toes with a teasing giggle. at this touch, the brush started to sprout a haze of daffodils and a wild flare of fresia.

Elfie was stuck in the bush like a sausage on a fork. Were it not for the skirt, he might have just slid down, but the fabric was interlaced with the branches and he was hardly able to leave the spot. What was worse - Weejay, who was to blame for all of this - did not look the least bit sorry for her actions. No. Much to his annoyance the girl had the guts to show off even more and he shot daggers at that water-lilly pad that his sister had used to raise to his level.

"Yeah, well, that is your fault!" Elfie blamed her and pouted, but not for long, because daffodils sprouted all around him, wrapping the princess in that peculiar smell of theirs that not all people enjoy. "EUGH!" he screamed. "Will you STOP THAT? I WILL tell mom," he threatened, though there was no sign of any of his parents in the vicinity.

elfie did not share weejay's delight to have inherited this spectacular green thumb of green thumbs. his loss, considering what magickal powers were waiting to be untapped, all at the tippity tip of weejay's little claws.

noticing elfie's tutu seemed precariously snagged in the bushes, weejay leapt from lilly-pad to the bush, her landing absent of grace. for a second she bumbled over the precipice like a cat that has misjudged the height of the counter, and then she was up and about. touching her nose to a little tendril that had woven itself behind elfie, a vine started to grow, flowers ornantly curled around it as it shaped itself into a perfectly round, immaculate tiara. "to match your dress!" weejay could not help but giggle warmly, delighted at her newfound power.

Threats had no effect on Weejey. If anything else, they even encouraged her to tease and torment her poor, poor brother-turned-sister more. Elfie scrunched his nose and regarded her with a spiteful angry gaze, unable to do anything else. "You are the worst," he told her. "Wait, 'till I get down! I will never, ever be friends with you again!" he went on, now on a creative way of insulting Weejay. "And then you will grow old and ugly, and round, and boring and will turn green and... and... become a tree!" he said the last one with such an emotion in his voice and was pretty proud with himself. "Yeah! A big, slimy tree!" Take that!

threads did little, but insults -- oh -- if ever a rose could be cut down, it was by the hot impart of elfie's furious hand.

like a daisy pushed through a woodchipper, the illusion crumbled. the pretty tiara withered first, turning to sour-smelling dust on the wind. the bush crumbled to the ground, dismayed by rot -- the lily pad went from green to onerous black, shriveling into a plant-like fist -- and every single petal of every single flower withered and fell from their stems, which then curled inward like diseased and aching souls.

weejay was deposited on the ground by the ruin, and she did not look up at her brother-turned-sister, or his pretty tutu (now fully unsnared). the idea of being alone, without her brother, was the round-up to her weed-like dreams; there was a small gasp of pain, and then weejay began to cry -- meanwhile, the den took on a somber atmosphere, being a plant graveyard and all.

after all, elfie had just killed everything in it - including the dashing hopes of his sweet, innocent sister.

Of all the ideas I toyed for Elfie, him being a total jerk was never intended. Poor, Weejay!

And just like that Elfie was released from the trap and he landed on the ground with a quiet thud. It took him a bit to recover, because the impact with the hard ground had hit all the air out of his lungs. Then he got to his feet, shook the dust away from his face, lost his crown in the process and found out that his pretty pink tutu was not nearly as pretty or clean.

But Weejay's heartfelt crying made him cringe and cast a worried glance around, to see, if his parents were anywhere around. As loving and great they were, he could not imagine anyone looking down at him nicely for upsetting his sister. And he did not wish to be alone and ignored any more than Weejay wanted to become a fat, slimy tree. He had to remedy the situation quickly and so that his sister would not rat him out later.

Elfie grabbed his tiara that had still retained it's silvery plastic shine and had pretty plastic jewels in it, and he approached his sister in a very subdued manner. "Hey, I did not mean that," he told the crying sibling, coming to sit right next to her and nuzzling her fur in an affectionate manner. "You would be the best sister in the world and I would never ever leave you. Even if you were a big, fat, slimy tree," he said.

weejay is fragile™, like a little buttercup. elfie is a great brother! <3

around her, everything had died. the darkening of the room, the creeping cold of the world outside, all of it became overbearing to the hyperaware weejay, who now was sobbing quietly to herself. stung beyond measure by her brother's words, the girl's face glistened with hot tears, and as elfie regained his breath and then bent down alongside her, weejay looked away. his nuzzles did not stop the quiet cries that wracked her throat, which by now was compressed and sore from blubbering.

elfie's words were very sweet, and had their intended effect (of stemming the stream of tears) up until he mentioned being a slimy tree again. weejay's cries became unbridled wails, and she buried herself into her brother's ruff, blubbering something that might have been "i don't wanna be a slimy tree!!" except for the fact, her mouth was gummy (and her nose snotty) from crying and the words were muffled and barely distinguishable.

So, that was the problem! A lightbulb above Elfie's head lit up brightly. Even at this early age he was learning that women were mystery and difficult to understand. "You are not a..." he bit his lip, refraining from calling Weejay THAT name for the third time today. "You are as beautiful as that plant over there," he beckoned to the only surviving yellow dandelion in the area. Even that looked like it had suffered, but it was the only blooming thing in the vicinity. And girls liked flowers, yes? He raked his female brain and found no better example.

"And you can wear this crown and be the best princess in the world!" he told her, pushing the tiara towards his sister, though not without a pang of regret. He had begun to like that shiny accessory and thought, how nice it would be to chew on it.

sniffling in that adorable manner that little sisters do (especially when they have scraped their knee), weejay looked up at elfie. he may have just found his redemption, for his words were quite sweet, and as he gestured at the lone buttercup in the vicinity, weejay felt her tears ebb away.

"really?" the little girl asked, eyes bright (and still a little watery), her voice a quiet sniffle. rubbing her snotty nose on the hem of her brother's tutu, weejay felt her sadness slowly lose its bloom. "promise, forever." the little princess insisted, nuzzling deeper into elfie's floral tutu.

and gradually, the room too lost its darkness. small little greens, no more than spring sprouts, began to unravel between the charred remains. as she tipped her head and her brother placed the tiara on her little skull, it began to sprout with little green vines which were quite elfin and exotic in appearance.

noticing the pang in elfie's gaze, weejay steaded herself by wiping a tear away with a thick paw. she then pulled the tiara from her head (which had now sprouted pale white flowers, magnolias bright and true). "you can have it." her voice was barely a murmur over the joyful sound of creepers and flowers in bloom, but it was affectionate - weejay did not want to take something her brother coveted.

"Yeah, forever," Elfie promised recklessly, but at this point he would have declared Weejay the Emperor of the Galaxy or stood on his head, as long as it kept her happy and content and away from crying. He had a suspicion that mom would still ask questions and he pondered briefly, whether he should suggest to his sister to take a swim. So that they were both wet and no one could tell, who had cried earlier.

"Thanks. Can't fit on both of our heads, can it?" Elfie accepted his sister's friendly gesture readily. "But crown or not you are still the bestest princess in the world," he reassured, another safety measure to keep those tears at bay.

yeah, forever, her brother promised soothingly. weejay felt the last of her tears dribble down her cheeks, cold and forgotten. a smile split across her features as she watched her brother proudly don his tiara -- it didn't help he had just assured her she was the bestest princess in the world.

like spring unleashed on an arid winter landscape, greenery rapidly returned to their little den. she felt the cool push of clover beneath her feet, the gentle tug of virginia creeper snaring playfully at her feet -- the green wisps that had timidly grown before bloomed rapidly, untethered now by the dark mood that had fled the den.

before weejay knew it, a garden bloomed around them -- fervent faces of indian blanket and scarlet poppy carpeted the floor, followed by the purple rush of wisteria and bougainvillea. "it looks pretty," weejay found herself mumbling, looking around at their secret garden with immense affection.

As small as Elfie was he already possessed a trait that was common to most men - he understood very little from plants and beauty. They were just green stuff with colourful accents for him. During his life, he would probably learn a name of a single plant (say "dandelion") and categorize everything else in reference to it. "Dandelion" and "the rest".

On the other hand, he was perceptive and tactful enough not to let his disinterest in gardening show in any way. He kept looking around with a curious and amused gaze, he used all of the "ah"s and "oh"s in the right places. He went so far to get to his feet, investigate some of the flowers closer and make a cheerful and funny twirl in his tutu. Out of sheer joy and wish to make his sister laugh. "I am a fairy princess and you are that Tit from the story," he meant Titania from Shakespeare's "A Midsommer's night Dream", but he was just as good remembering names as he was interested in plants.

weejay had no idea of her brother's ruse. she bent appreciatively as he inspected each flower, nodding adoringly after each accented oooh, delighted by each softly uttered aahh! it was enough that the tears were long forgotten, and she basked in the heavenly beauty of her newfound power. she wanted to stay in this paradise garden forever.

plodding dutifully after her brother, she laughed soft and brightly at his dramatic swirl of pastelly fabric, clasping her paws together in delight. as he settled down besides her and announced her role, weejay chirped "no you're a tit!" before swirling in a patch of daisies that bobbed brightly with her passing.

Elfie furrowed his brow - he had expressed a compliment to his sister, but she had tossed it right back at him. This was not, how you usually did things. But - oh, well - if his sister did not wish to be Tit or Ania or, whatever that fairy princess was called, it was fine with him. All things considered there was room for one royalty here. And it was him with skirt and crown and the pretty, adorable face (he had never seen his own reflection, but let him think that).

He followed his sister around dutifully, having no particular interest in the plants, but entertaining himself with the extent of Weejay's superpowers. She never did the same thing twice after all.

elfie was clearly confounded by her whimsical response, but weejay did not stop to enlighten him. no, she kept on smelling the roses, as that english saying goes -- only it wasn't just roses. it was every kind of flower known to wolf (and mankind).

flowers she had never seen before, vines no wolf in the teekon had laid eyes on -- even rows of fruitbearing brush crowded behind her, their leaves chattering as they rose from the ground abruptly.

the further weejay walked, the more tangled the garden became -- the longer she stood, the taller the sprouts grew.. and eventually, weejay was forced to stop -- the undergrowth was crowded, but one plant stood out in particular. the girl's eyes widened as she saw it unfurl from the ground. its stem was a sickly green that transformed into a virulent neon green -- a color she would later associate with negativity and venom. the stalk grew taller as became brighter colored.

two offshoots began to grow on the stem, and eventually they widened out in a concave shell of sorts. spines to split from their curled lips, until eventually the plant became monstrously sized and its stalk began to bend under the weight of the bloom's head. to weejay, the "flower" at the tip of the stem looked more mouth than bulb -- and she did not know it, but this was a rare and massive venus fly trap which just happened to sprout before them like a tiny giant.

Elfie had got tired of pretending to be interested in plants and had sat down to rearrange his pink tutu. In doing so, his crown fell off his head and rolled away. "Oh, come on!" he grumbled to himself and bounded after it, past Weejay, completely ignoring the massive, green plant in front of him.

"Got you!" he pounced on it, bumped into the plant and was forced to look up. Right in time to see a massive set of jaws nearing him at full speed and... gulping him whole.

[Elfie woke up, before he got to the nightmarish part of being digested within the plant for the next few days. However, though he would forget the particulars of the dream itself, he would be very wary of all bright green plants for a while]

Wrapping this up. I will start a new one for the awesome duo as soon as I have time! :) Thanks!
