Aura and @Holo Torak had split up for a short time, with plans to meet later on that day, so the yearling did not worry as she climbed a rather small, lichen-covered mountain. She saw many goats — more than she'd ever seen before, and she admired them from afar. She was no huntress, not really — she could catch small game for herself well enough, but she tended to shy away from large game such as these goats. Continuing her climb, Aura examined her surroundings.

diesel scampered up the steep cliffside, attempting in vain to match the grace and elegance of the baby goat that so temptingly evaded her.

but the mastiff was stubborn and hungry, and so continued to scale the mountain face even as traitorous rocks crumbled under her paws, and the mocking baby goat continued to ascend higher.

completely unaware that a bigger predator lurked above.
