liliana slouched over her brother's side, resting her head atop his thigh as she drifted into slumber. indistinguishable whimpers poured from the corners of her mouth with the steady drip of milk unswallowed. soon, her eyes would open and another element would be added to their lives, but she was content to sleep until then.

When he showed up at the den things were quiet. Unsurprisingly. It'd be a while yet before the volume increased as far as Mal could tell. He'd found a good-sized woodrat and had brought it for Miriam today, as he was apt to do. He peeked into the den but the world was still, scooting into the tunnel quietly as he peered around to see if this was time for an (attempted) conversation. He'd place it out of the way near the tunnel's entry to the main chamber -- and thus protected from some other random predator making off with it. If nobody was awake, he wouldn't disturb them, just linger a few moments, pondering before heading off.

It was something he still needed to solve.
