Two Rivers Isle Gossip is Faster than News

Heph approached the borders, this time taking the northernly route along the coast in lieu of the way through the twisted slough. Though she enjoyed the challenge of the swampy lands she had managed to find the corpse of an old elk that had been caught by something larger that she had rather not wanted to think about. Some of the pelt had been badly damaged and most of the innards were gone, but the rest of the fur had been salvageable and several days being picked clean and then dried made it rather fine indeed. She had meant to visit Iseul and though she was not sure what exactly Two River Isles would appreciate she knew the pelt would not go to waste even if they chose not to take it. Lingering on the river banks she let out a call, wondering if Ulrich or Iseul or some other wolf would answer.

besides keeping the caches filled with meat, iseul has been hard at work doing her best to preserve some of the edible flora that grows within the isle. keeping an eye on the fermentation process, most of her things were on the verge of being ready to consume. and while she was considering creating another onggi, a howl comes to distract her.

despite the most recent visitor being a friendly and thankfully familiar face, there is a small pit of worry in iseul that it may be another member of the gang that colt seems to be running under her nose. and considering how her tough act went over with the others, she'd have to think about keeping her cool. 

so the woman leaves her work and moves at a quick pace towards the source. when a more recognizable scent wafts into her nose, Iseul can feel her own stress begin to melt as she draws closer. eventually, a figure comes into sight and the leader is able to recognize the face.

Heph! what a wonderful surprise visit she's making to the isle this day.

greeting her with a neutral position but a very friendly wag of her tail and bright smile, iseul draws close to the opposite edge of the river bank as she looks towards her friend. "Heph!" she merrily chirps to her, "nice to see you. has Heph come to see isle?" she doesn't even seem to take notice of the skin her friend has brought with her.

Heph grinned when she recognized the approaching figure. In the tangle of pack scents she thought she remembered something familiar but had trouble placing exactly where she might have come across it. Most likely another wolf from the Isle. "Iseul!" She wagged her tail, posture neutral but gaze respectful at the border. Still, she could not quite help the light that shimmered in her eyes as her tongue curled into friendly teasing. "It's good to see you and your stunning face again as well." While life at Moontide had been unavoidably busy she still regretted not returning west sooner. 

At the question her head bobbed into a pleased nod. Though she had appeared at the borders and had met with Ulrich and Iseul before she was still not entirely sure if they would invite her within. "Yes, if it's allowed. I also." She fumbled for a moment with the pelt on her back, dragging it over her shoulder a bit so the other wolf could more easily see. "Brought a pelt, in case you had any need for something like it."

a glittering gift that brings about a thankful smile to iseul's features. thankfully, the river remained at a relatively narrow part for Heph to cross with ease if she wished to avoid swimming, despite the warm and lingering summer heat. for a moment, iseul must quietly think of what she can offer back for such a gift.

a sweep of her muzzle invites the other leader to join her on the other side. "it looks soft," she remarks with a surprised voice, eyes looking over the craftsmanship that has gone into it, "would Heph teach Iseul how to, sometime?" it would make for warm sleeping places when winter crawls around again, and perhaps matteo and ines would come to enjoy the newest additions to their den.

but perhaps she could save that lesson for another time. "Heph can follow, Iseul show all parts of isle. how has Moontide been?" a diplomatic conversation, certainly.

Heph grinned, glad to share the knowledge. During her time wandering she had almost forgotten, but Rodyn had refreshed the lesson and now she had reason to use it once more. “Of course! If we have time here we can rustle up some smaller game to practice on more pelts, or next time I’ll remember to bring the body.” Her eyes glittered though her laughter betrayed the fact that the she-wolf knew she could hardly drag a large carcass all the way. Maybe a beaver. They were mid-size creatures with sturdy pelts. However she may need help, though they were not themselves predators they were hardy.

At the invitation she was able to wade, careful of the pelt, but thankfully only getting the edges damp. “Thank you.” She was curious to see the island, if only because it was a new place and Heph liked new places. Already her mind was considering what fun shadows the trees held beneath their boughs and the shape of the shore.

At the mention of Moontide she spoke warmly and openly. “Moontide’s been well, we’ve had a litter and another on the way and a few new grown faces as well. The prey’s been moving…oddly? But in a good way, there’s so many herds travelling. Rodyn, one of our alphas, might organize a hunt soon.” Her voice was serious but not fearful at the mention of the prey. She was not sure if they had noticed the same on the isle or if the two rivers surrounding shielded them from the movements of the herds. But if they ventured out then she was sure the hunting would be good.

Realizing she knew little of the inhabitants of the isle as she did the landscape she was curious to hear how Iseul had been doing. “How are you and how is the isle?”

"the isle breathes," she says politely back, "new faces here." jadeite eyes come to wrap around where the two remain, wondering whose listening ears may be near. it would be best not to gossip about colt and his gang, not while she's out of her depth with their numbers. "it... a lot. looking after young and others. iseul worry sometimes."

of an uprising, of losing their footing, of it just all going away. but perhaps she may take leave with the children and let them see moontide and what the jewels of the sea may have to offer. it would certainly take a village, and then perhaps colt may end up getting what he wants.

she would wind around to take heph towards her densite, and upon reaching invite her to set it down if she wished. "does heph hunger?" there is a hidden onggi in her home, filled with some fermenting roots and such and a tiny cache of snake meat that she has stored for an emergency, and in this case, a friendly visit.

Iseul is still learning English and will frequently pause to find the right word. This often occurs with an audible 'uh' or 'ah' sound, as well as speaking a bit slower to try and avoid mistakes. Your character is welcome to notice this!

Heph sensed the answer was polite, but was unsure how to push. She liked a constant parade of new faces, but then again even if all those new faces ther ewas a constancy and steadiness to Moontide that did not allow for any changes to long disturb the sense of pack that had settled upon their lands. "I'm glad it's lively. Young are hard. We had a litter and were poorly prepared to help the mother, but she's doing better now. If there's anything I can do to help please ask." She remembered Marina's birth way a flick of her ears. Next year if they had more pups among their number she would endeavor to be better.

At the mention of food Heph noddded, she did not wish to steal from other mouths that needed it but she was hungry and would enjoy sharing a meal with Iseul. "A bit, I traveled straight here."
