All Welcome
@Seal had been here for a time. Then she too had left. Sven held out hope that she would return. But he wouldn't hold it against her if she didn't. It was a lonely existence here in the stone Circle and he did not wish it upon her. Not at all. It was with a mix of fortitude and anxiousness that he watched the borders and the horizons. Wondering.

There were days that he wondered should he leave? Should he stay? What was here for him? Nothing. At least not now. Except bones of his father and memories of the past. But he could not leave his father to be buried without family near. It rankled him. To know that the patriarch of the pack was alone. He could hold vigil.

The packs departed from the glen following the great hunt. Some pawprints followed paths that returned to Moonglow. Others to the mesa. Yet Seal noticed one trail of single track prints in the direction of the Stone Circle.

Sven, Seal thought to herself.

She admired his resolve. His dedication. Though Kvarsheim – his family – had fallen, he stayed as guardian of the land.

It was a trait Seal felt she lacked. She had drifted from place to place for almost a year. The Copse, the Spear, the Caledra, or the Spine could not tame her restless heart. And so, she gravitated towards Sven’s fortitude.

She moved at a quick lope. Then, she spied a familiar figure on the border… it was as if he knew she was approaching.

“Sven!” Seal called out. Her mouth felt dry. Nervous!

Sven thought perhaps most would think him foolish. Sometimes he even thought of himself as foolish. What young man stayed in a place of ghosts and memories. Certainly probably not a sane one. He frowned in thought and loped around the pack lands. He needed to keep the borders maintained, even if he was confused and unsure of his future.

A noise caught his attention and then his name. Shadow speckled head lifted and he looked around. Steel grey eyes catching the sun with a glint. A small smile. He trotted towards her.

Heya Seal.

Seal could help but beam a smile when Sven greeted her.

“Hi!” she chirped back with a waving, happy tail.

But then self doubt and anxiety began to creep in. Was she weird for coming here? What did Sven think of her? Did he want to be alone?

“Uhm —,” she started, voice quaking. “Sorry, I —,” gosh, why did an apology fall right out?

She nervous-laughed and cleared her throat. “I saw your trail leaving the hunt in the Glen,” she began. Oops. Was that creepy?

“Ah, I mean… I arrived late. An’ I thought I’d stop by tae see how you’re doing.”

Smooth recovery.

He chuckled. Eyes alight with joy to see her. He had always liked Seal. Had enjoyed her company when she last visited him. And she was pretty. her accent always made him smile. It was so different than his own, but it made him feel not so strange.

No need to apologize bout anything.

he shifted and waited for her to gain her composure. His own surely not grand. he had been alone for months. He wasn't sure if he was doing all the things right anymore.

I am always glad to see you. Are you hungry? Need to rest?

Sven’s gentle demeanor put Seal at ease and she smiled at him gratefully. Though the phrase I am always glad to see you made her heart become twitterpated.

“Maybe a rest,” Seal admitted as she lifted a paw to show her snow-caked feet. “I’ve still got a verrae long ways tae go before I reach the Caldera. I’m headed tae visit my family, there.”

Seal chewed her lip in thought. “Since I last saw you I’ve been wondering about your family’s history, here. About Kvarshiem. I was hoping you’d be willing to share some tales about them with me. What do you think?” she asked. However, the thought then occurred to her that it might dredge up painful memories. Had she accidentally misstepped?

Sven embodied his father's calm nature as best he could. He strived to be humble and stay below the line. Though sometimes he felt that it was a bit unfair to be asked of him. Because it always felt as if he was forced into that role, by something unseen.

He sniffed at her paws. Being sure there was no blood on them or cause for concern. She seemed fine, just tired. So he nodded. A rest you shall have. Who will you be visiting there?

her next question and he was surprised. And then saddned, but not because of her question. But because he simply did not have many tales of his family anymore. They had left when he was very young. but he had a few.

I can share some things. But not a lot. My family was broken apart before I was 6 months old. But I can try and sahre what I remember. Actually I'd love too. I always like talking about my family. I had two brothers and 1 sister you know. I suppose I still do. They are just out there far away from me.

Seal smiled bashfully as Sven inspected her paws. “It’s nae bad,” she assured him, wanting to appear strong. “Thank you,” she replied when he promised her rest.

“My grandmother,” she explained. “Towhee Redhawk.” Seal paused a moment, curious to know if Sven knew of her. After all, Towhee had traveled throughout all of Teekon and had lived in many places. “She resides in the Caldera with my Uncle Killdeer, Southwest of here.”

You should visit! She wanted to suggest, but Seal knew Sven wouldn’t leave the Stone Circle.

They began to walk together as Sven explained his family’s histories… unfortunately, it was far from the idyllic childhood Seal had envisioned. A broken family and distant siblings… it seemed like little was left of Kvarshiem’s flame. Sven was the last flicker of light.

“I have sisters and brothers too, but I’ve nae seen them in many seasons, as well,” she said, empathizing with Sven. “What are their names?” she asked, sincerity sparkling in the deep brown of her eyes.
