It had not been safe to do so but Sakhmet had tucked herself away in the caves the night prior, sleeping away most of the day in the shadows. Nostalgia had gripped her a bit but it was not enough to stir anything truly meaningful. In the caves she had been born, had spent her first few weeks with a mother she barely knew. Now she had more than she could ever wish for. Outside of the cave. A true mother, Maegi and adventures with her brothers. It was that thought that propelled her to leave her makeshift bed. A groan of resitance escaped her lips as an uncomfortable chill had swept over the cave. With usually three bodies by her side, the child had never had to know the feeling of being cold.
Perhaps it was just the depth of the cave and the darkness of everything but with each soft step forward, she began to have doubts. The mouth of the cave greeted her with a chilled breeze and a fogginess thickening the forest. It wasn't that that caused an anxious feeling to mount in her chest. It was the fact that the world seemed to be dusted with something light, fine and white.
What was it?
It was with an uncanny hesitancy that she backpedaled into the mouth of the cave, warily staring at the dusted world outside.
