It started out as a quiet morning in the Caldera. The sun had barely begun to peek out from the horizon and make the world glow a hazy yellow-ish white, helped by the frost and light dusting of snow that covered the ground. Even the birds hadn't woken just yet, but today was not their day to sleep in. They, like others nearby, would wake to the sound of a young wolf howling out a happy cry, a crash and crunch of frosted leaves, and a fit of singing laughter.
It repeated again and again as Glee Blackthorn went barreling in and out of the large pile of leaves that had collected against an outcropping. When finally she paused, it was to bury herself in the pile and begin rolling around, kicking her legs up into the air and grinning as the leaves went flying.

Incoming!!
Glee had kicked up quite the perfect pile of leaves, a pile her mom was absolutely going to jump into! Well - actually, more run into, since Glee had clearly buried herself in it and Maia didn’t want to accidentally land on her daughter.
Maia laughed as she crunched into the leaves, then rolled sideways and kicked a few up into the air.
Oh, no. Is there a leaf dragon guarding this pile?!She asked, patting the other wolf, partially visible under the leaves, with a paw.
Since stepping into the role of Auspex, her days had been full of worries and pack business. She didn’t want to lose out on the playful spirit her two daughters clearly enjoyed, and knew if she didn’t make time for play, she’d regret it when spring came and brought them both to proper adulthood.
