only if u want <3

she had stood out upon the icefield for endless time.

in the night, above the icefield, lights danced. she struggled to turn her focus anywhere else. never before had she witnessed it. homeland had boasted trees so tall and thick that stars were a delicacy to behold. whatever this was? she was convinced it might have killed some of them to witness. if only for the seemingly miracle way it worked at all.

as if the cold winds of the north somehow moved the lights in the sky.

soon she must return to @Faust — but her mind is elsewhere in this moment. she thinks of none of the lives that dance upon the ground of earth.

she imagines the gods he had spoken of.

is this their work? a sign of approval for her mending his flesh and dragging him into safety? perhaps it is her ego that wishes for that.

a heavy breath escapes her in a wispy show of condensation, like a greyscale reflection of the shimmering lights above.

broken body began to mend. with the flowers asha had managed to obtain, he would slowly become whole once more. he could move without a grimace, though his jaw still remained taut.

he found her there, watching the lights from beyond.

light limp, he hobbled over towards her from the makeshift grotto they'd been lodged upon. he'd been regaining his strength, however slowly, but surely.

it is beautiful, isn't it?

you seen it before?

she could not fathom that. to her this might be only once in a life. one day she might disappear beneath treetop canopy's again and never see the sky like this.

she did not wish for it, but it could happen.

something was shifting within her, around her. she tucked away the thought for a moment longer.

with a gruff came deep within the northman. he nodded. many nights, yes. his home, as it once had been, cemented against the rock facing side of the northern skies.

there was much that asha has not seen. much that he could show her! for the time being, ayovi's fickle form disappeared from his mind, and that ugly brute's face washed away in the silken hues of light across asha's molten cheeks.

why did you help?

it came more gently than he anticipated. a tone that he was not quite sure even he understood, nor was capable of emitting.

many nights.

had it ever lost its charm? had anyone ever figured out the mystery behind it? maybe no one questioned it so deeply in a place where there were whispers of gods.

it is his question she did not expect — and one she had not been prepared to answer.

she lingered in their comfortable silence for a moment. allowed herself to look over and see how the lights rippled against his face and eyes.

you help me first. she offered with humor and a shrug of shoulders. perhaps downplaying this whole situation. you feed me and name me. things that altered her life. now she had altered his own by bringing him here, by learning to heal him.

something danced along the tip of her tongue that she held back. dark amber gaze turned back to the shining lights above.

man's duty,

faust muttered, his voice low and edged with something like resolve, but not yours. his eyes roamed her figure, then back to the dancing lights above.

he let the silence settle for a moment before glancing at her, a flicker of dry humor softening his sharp features. but, seems you make your own rules, asha.

i have learned — her lips curled into a grin that might have looked more in place on some dainty thing. far too shy to be on the face of a giant like herself. i am not good at rules in this land.

it was what had led her course further up the mountains, away from the safe vale. into his company and now here again. into a land filled with unknown and potentials.

why do you trust me to heal?

gaze flicked to her, lingering for a moment before he spoke, his voice rough but steady, laced with a truth he rarely voiced.

because you had no reason to bring me here, no reason to try at all, he said simply, his tone neither harsh nor soft but weighted with meaning. but you did. when no one else would.

he shifted slightly, the subtle discomfort of his wounds evident, yet his focus remained on her.

rules are made to be broken. a dry chuckle escaped him, though there was no malice in it, only a quiet wonder. funny. you're the only one who's acted like i deserve to live.

she listens to him, but her head is tilted up. eyes half-lidded as if she grew tired. instead it is only to split her focus between the lights and his rumbling voice.

she seems to be some kind of oddity or rarity to him.

the only one who would heal him, the only one that thought he deserved the life he carried in his lungs.

i have no reason to think you should be dead. and although humor lingered still at the edges of her voice there is something serious within her too. there is more use in you than food and names.

he is more than just useful — she did not give the illusion of such, though. content to pretend to wish him at only arms length.

even though she had most certainly said he might be hers.

suddenly she hoped he did not remember such through the haze of pain.

The participants have indicated the following reason(s) for this warning: context
faust let her words linger in the air between them, his gaze steady but softer than before. the sharpness in his expression dulled as he exhaled, the tension in his shoulders loosening. with a momentarily pursed lip, he didn't believe her. @Ayovi had thought such less of him; enough to wrangle, beg to be parted from his grasp.

come, he murmured, his voice quieter now, almost coaxing. lay here. he shifted slightly, wincing as he made room beside him, the invitation plain.

watch the lights with me, he added, his tone gruff but not unkind, the faintest hint of vulnerability slipping through. it wasn’t often he asked for company, but tonight felt different. the sky above was vast, painted with colors that danced like something alive, and for a moment, he wanted to share it.

it was the least he could do. she had gone great lengths to help him— he owed her a life debt. little did he know, she thought the same. folie a deux.

she has no more words.

perhaps exhausted by trying to sound well spoken and logical. she is grateful that he wished for nearness, for her own company. better even more so that it is beneath the shining lights.

yet once she is there, laid and sprawled alongside him, it is not the sky she is looking to anymore. instead she is examining him close. this time it is not his wounded flesh that she looks for. it is the strength hidden beneath all of it, the hues that shimmer in his coat and the shine of his eyes.
