The grim giant awoke, and for the first time in a week, she found herself nursing a little reserve of energy. Perhaps it was the medicines erring off, or perhaps time had simply been needed to allow her body to recover- but she felt a bit less weak when she sat up, a bit less dizzy.
She expected the aching in her heart to return at any moment. Perhaps the witch’s spell had a second wave that would hit her when it was the least convenient- it’d be impossible to know, until someone could hunt her down and get the curse reversed. And as much as Moss wanted to be the one to strange the counter-curse from the witch herself, she feared as well that it might simply spell her end.
She needed some sort of leverage, she thought- but wasn’t sure what that could be.
She would also need to get back to Swiftcurrent Creek. Word had been sent, but she’d begun to feel restless, cooped up in Kvarsheim though she was well-attended.
At some point, this chapter would need to end. But she needed to figure out, first, how it was to begin.

At first, Taktuq had stood back as others attended to Moss more directly than she. The Modir cared for her by bringing fresh kill and herbs — but never, never entered her dwelling, in caution of any curse that may have lingered behind.
But as she stood back, she also watched, and understood that the curse seemed contained within the woman herself. No one else had fallen ill — no one had fallen at all, and today, Taktuq decided she would bring the kill to Moss and deliver it directly.
A fat rabbit hung in the Modir’s jaws, and swung. It took her every ounce of self control not to eat the prey herself. She’d been hungrier than usual these past couple of days. Indeed, nothing seemed to satiate.
But she did control herself, and when she reached Moss she found the woman sitting upright and for once looking well!
She might have dropped the rabbit out of sheer surprise! Yet managed to catch herself, and placed the prey on the ground before the woman of Swiftcurrent Creek.

Moss, she said with a soft smile,
you fare better, it does seem?

Moss did not flinch at the sight of the other wolf, though she regretted every step that brought her closer. Fierce stubbornness made her less inclined to accept the hospitality, and superstition made her bristle lightly- but this was an ally. One who had helped her when she’d shown up, staggering, uttering accusations.
She knew she could also stand trial should they not trust her word, though they seemed to have put complete fi to in her confession. Too trusting? Or a good ally? She had yet to decide.
She did not want to eat. Moss did not like being in debt, and she felt already that she had overstayed her welcome. She tried to straighten slightly. ”Yes.” She said, stiffly. ”I will head back to Swiftcurrent soon.” Not soon enough, she thought, though she felt it would be impolite to be so abrupt.

Moss made no motion towards the rabbit, as many other guests might do - but Taktuq thought very little of it. She had not been out much, and had mostly been resting. Perhaps she was not hungry, or very easily, found it better, more proper, to speak when her mouth was not stuffed with fresh food.
While Moss remained impassive, Taktuq couldn't contain the surprise in her brow,
Indeed, she would be sure two of their own escorted Moss back, so they would not be put in peril upon their return, either... yes, she would tell @Gunnar about these thoughts once she had finished here with Moss.

you are feeling that well!It had not been many days since they'd found the woman keeled over on the edge of Kvarsheim,
well, we will have Gunnar check you first, and see if they still had the RiverClan healer with them, to do a more thorough check,
and we will escort you back to the Creek when you are ready to go. Until the marsh witch and Germanicus are found, it is better to go in groups.

Perhaps you might like a walk around this small part of Kvarsheim with me, before you begin preparations to head home to the Creek. It is a good way to test your legs, your lungs, your heart,or whatever part the witch had cursed.

Is it OK if we fade this? Sorry I let it get so out of date!
Feeling that well? Hardly. Moss felt exhausted and weakened, and short of breath whenever she moved about- but she wasn't comfortable relying on the hospitality of others. She wanted nothing more than to go back to her home, and patrol the borders...And for everything to just be normal again, though she knew in her blackening heart that peace would be impossible to find while the witch still lived. And the man who hid her? An accomplice. She did not want a checkup, and she did not want an escort, but she knew arguing might make her seem more suspicious. So she nodded curtly, and would suffer through whatever examination the leader would perform, and tolerate the company in silence back to Swiftcurrent Creek- or at least, part of the way. She had no intention of weighing on them more than she already had.
The woman then offered to walk her about- and she wondered if she was expected to collapse. She would slow her breaths as necessary, but would not push herself to walk terribly fast...Not that Moss ever did. She agreed to the walkabout, moving with all the urgency of a sloth.
