She has done as Soto has asked, and now she seeks to report the news to him. However, things have not gone exactly as she expected.

The dove had waited up for Castel, planned for him and put her ducks in a row. It had been lovely; an experience of pure bliss that she revelled in even now. But Beau? Leto had never considered him, not until he pounced.

Never before had she seen the prairie snake so angry. It filled her with fear, though she knew well that it was not directed towards her; Castel was the target of his anger, and she had been used as a tool to convey it - to threaten her water serpent.

She is unsure of which she should ask to take responsibility, but she knows well which of the men she wants raising her children. Castel had been kind to her, all Beau had done was take his leftovers.

Leto knows that Beau must leave to avoid conflict; until her children are born, at least. She has something in mind, and now she will beg for her request to be obliged.
