He feels teeth close around his scruff, and Ulf's growl fills his ears. He still can't find any fight within him — even when the grip releases and it's followed by a sharp nip, and he can feel warm blood beginning to soak into his fur. It's not much, but he sucks in a breath, limbs trembling now.
This is how he's going to die, and it's so, so fitting. He closes his stinging eyes, breath rapid and uneven, and tries to picture his own corpse. Maybe it belongs here; this is where Eris and Runion are, this is where the ghosts of his last memories with Zamael linger. Maybe he just needs to learn when to give up.
