Why didn't he know anything about this, being the pack's midwife?). He wanted to say something reassuring, but wasn't sure how to say or what to say. Fennec was the one who filled in those blanks; she said that it didn't mean that Towhee couldn't just because so far, she hadn't.

It was a tricky question to think whether Towhee would be able to -- Eljay honestly didn't know the answer himself -- but it sounded like Raven hadn't completely excluded the possibility. Did she see anything that indicated you won't ever be able to? Eljay asked carefully, realising that he wasn't directly a part of this conversation.
