He showed no sign of having heard the boy speak, not a twitch nor a shift of his eyes from their empty stare. Not until a name was issued, and Revui finally looked away from the stranger in order to peer around the emptiness of the meadow. He did this in one fluid movement and without much fanfare; stoicism, or boredom, take your pick.

Not much to look at. He glibly surmised as his gaze rested on the boy again. It wasn't entirely certain if he was speaking of the terrain or the wolf in his presence. They appeared young - like himself, the giant realized - except they were smaller, not that size mattered much when it came to true threats. Small things could be terrors. The boy looked hardened and Revui had half a mind to ask aloud if they were a warrior, and then didn't.

Then, he recognized that the stranger had one eye missing. Did I mention Revui was slow?

The woods have always been filled with these soft doe-eyed things;
with hearts beating for the arrow, the bullet, the lance.
