He trailed after his femme doppelganger without meaning to, at first. Sleep had not come to him, and he'd spent a few hours pre-dawn doing a quick patrol of the valley entrance, then veered towards Ikkalrok's slumbering bear-like shape; but he caught sight of Galena's shadow, and was distracted enough by the movement to seek it out. She led him deeper in to the territory. By the time he realized it was her, she'd already collected a small bone, some moss, rocks, flowers — a mess of things — and nested at her shrine.
Her head was bowed as Revui approached. He did not understand what he was seeing, but somehow connected Galena's behaviour to the pale girl (Averna) and the boulder from the territory's mouth. Somehow this moment held the same incongruous energy. Revui came to the woman's side as soundlessly as he could, looking very much like a big stupid dog trying to sneak upon its master's bed; as he sank to his haunches he watched Galena, and bowed his own head, mimicking her while she was preoccupied. Trying to understand.
Then her eyes opened. Revui's didn't, yet. He'd felt relaxed in the moment and begun to drowse.

The woods have always been filled with these soft doe-eyed things;
with hearts beating for the arrow, the bullet, the lance.

I have always been the huntsman. ⤑
