She was open and playful with him because he had earned it and she liked him, but to those she didn't like or trust, it was a quite different story. 

As for his new second, she added: It's good to have a strong co-leader with similar goals. She paused a second to study his face like she often did. But you should listen to your instincts until she proves she deserves your trust. Maybe she cared whether or not this new wolf betrayed him. That was her opinion, anyway; he take it or leave it. She had no doubt he could take care of himself if things didn't go well.
