"Admiration? How so?" Something about Kukutux's expression and tone gave Lane the feeling that she was being teased, but she hadn't quite picked up on the joke. 

Seeing as she was still adjusting to the idea of being pregnant, hers wasn't really a situation that lended itself to overly-casual conversation. She was a long way from reaching a point at which she could withstand teasing with good humor.
