sobeille inwardly asked herself an uncomfortable question then; maman was filled with worried energy, suzu was sick with future-worry, val and chacal both painted a picture of anguish — but what did she feel?

she listened as suzu denounced the sea, her gaze trailing to maman as she put into words what sobeille had always known; it was the women that were the saviors and salt of the earth — the women who held their hands to the sky and held up the moon, the sun, and all the souls that walked among them.
