Charon listened to Saskia's story, although it didn't interest him all that much. Seemed pretty standard. Wolves falling in love, birthing children, bla bla... The canyon thing was pretty cool though; as a Naturalist, he could at least admire that tidbit of information.

She asked him about his life then. He waited a moment, as if not sure what to tell, then nodded. "Yeah. My father and mother were Alphas. But my father died from a very painful illness before I was born, and then my mom was so struck with grief that she stepped down from leading the pack. When I was a couple months old my mum was ripped to shreds by a bear in front of my own eyes." He looked at Saskia, a sad shimmer in his eyes. "The new Alpha pair adopted me then." He didn't care that he wasn't telling the truth. It wasn't like it would hurt anyone, and it was better if she thought him even more impressive than he was -- and felt empathic towards him through his tragic youth.
