Wild Berry Meadow Heat Wave Hello

Selena has lead @Sunspots out of Greatwater Lake territory not knowing he wants to join. Sooo tagging @Khaba here to start a joining thread :)

Midday was a pretty good time to find small game. At least, that was what Selena thought as an inexperienced hunter. So when the wolf mix lead her company into the meadows, her dark eyes peered through the bright daylight in hopes of finding a rabbit or two. "There should be a few rabbits here." She echoed her thoughts to Sunspots before turning her head back to look for him.

A strange scent was on the wind.

Displeased, Khaba kicked up a whirl of dust as he paced to find its belonging.

But the stranger was not alone. One of his own mingled.

Approaching with a flagged tail, the shadowed beast snarled at the strange male. A challenge, unabashedly placed; possessive and unwavering.

To think that he dare intermix with one of Khaba's women! He would soon have their hide for this!

Sunspots followed Selena and nodded when she spoke to him. He liked the rabbit, and hunting it with Selena gave him a strange tingle...
He raised his head when he detected another scent. A large black wolf was coming snarling. Sunspots awkwardly took a few steps back, looking at Selena. The wolf was coming... Instinctively, Sunspots crouched down, tail wagging frantically, but then tucked it between his paws and lay like that, very still.
Who was that wolf? he smelled like Selena, maybe they were from the same pack…yeah, that made sense. The last thing he wanted was to have a fight, but he felt worse thinking that Selena would have trouble being with a stranger.

He was here. Immediately, the girl clapped her jaws shut as to not offend Alpha further. Looking to Sunspots, the mixed breed furrowed her brow in worry. She wouldn't talk to him. She couldn't. Not only because this was a strange male in alpha's eyes, but it angered him greatly when she spoke at all. Bowing her head, it wasn't a moment longer that the handmaiden gave up all individuality and began to blend into the background of the situation like the submissive woman she was. Selena kept her eyes focused on her kneading paws, feeling a sense of shame in her stomach.

Both shrunk themselves down in his presence. As it was meant to be.

Advancing no further past where Selena had tucked herself, Khaba inched his skull, jerking it in a demanding motion.

Why are you here? A heavy bellow demanded of the male.

Sunspots was paralyzed with fear, and his ears fell back. He was going to tell Selena alone, but there wasn't time, it was obvious that this black wolf was the Alpha of the pack, and he had asked her a direct question.

Not daring to look up, he opened his mouth but nervously closed it again, looking at Selena. Then, crouching so low that his chin touched her paws, he spoke the words that would mark her fate.

"Can I join your pack?" His words were mixed with involuntary shrieks. The eyes of that black wolf gave her a feeling that made her want to remain silent, and his words sounded simple and insignificant.

Selena hoped that Sunspots would continue his show of submission but still Alpha retreated to stand behind the black behemoth. I am his. Her eyes bore into the loner as she brushed Alpha's hindquarters, wanting him to understand the hierarchy of the pack, for his own sake. Alpha was possessive of the women of the pack and she didn't want to see this innocent male become a victim to it. If he were to join the pack, he would need to learn.

He hears the shrill sound of vocals. Not in the form of whine, growl, or bark. But in words.

Often against this form of expression, he did not take it kindly, lunging a step to snap loud teeth towards the male.

But the query spoken was certainly of interest, so Khaba did not display his anger long.

He could feel the brush of fur against his leg, but ignored it in this moment. The focus was upon the one who still cowered at his feet.

Chin lifted, he chuffed a deep bellow. 

Prove you deserve it. That you deserve my mercy, and my protection. He commands, glare icy cold. 

The lake alpha would not wait long. They would prove themselves deserving, or be turned away by brutal force.

Sunspots looked at Selena, understanding her gesture, and then looked at the alpha. He knew that speaking out had been a mistake, and he would not make it again.

The black wolf's question left him paralyzed. Prove that he deserved a place in the pack? He looked around, as if he expected the landscape to reveal what he should do.

Desperate, he thought he must have guessed: they wouldn't let him into a pack that easily. He didn't know how to fight and was barely able to hunt, and he supposed that suddenly being brave or disrespectful to the alpha wasn't the way to go.

He didn't know how to display a talent he didn't have without abandoning his submissive position, so he just leaned back, showing his belly in a sign of respect. I will be loyal to you and only you he squealed.

Selena released a small breath that she had been holding in anticipation as the submissive male played his role perfectly. She looked up to Alpha, back to Sunspots, and then up again. Even she wasn't able to tell how this would go. She felt the dominant energy radiate from the larger dark wolf in front of her and felt protected, although there was not much to be protected from. She closing her deep dark gaze, the witch felt the winds and sought to find comfort in the Spirits who guided them all in the face of this confrontation.

Submission. A sure way to secure a spot in a pack such as this.

Khaba had no intention to turn them away now. An extra body was always needed, even if to simply fill out the omega roles. Which is precisely where this male would end up—for the time being, at least.

Taking complete advantage of their new, back sprawn position, he jerked his skull forward and clamped his teeth around their exposed throat. It wasn't done so in the strength to draw blood, but simply to pass a point.

You are warned, he speaks clear, even without words. These actions were surely enough. Know your place, or you will find a new one. In a grave.

If they would come to understand this, the alpha would allow them to remain.

Sunspots was not surprised by the alpha's action. When he was a cub, his brothers used to do that to him, which marked his lower rank. He was glad that the black wolf was doing something familiar, something he knew. 
He remained very still, wagging his tail, which was still between his paws, as a sign that he had understood his message. Then he squirmed gently and attempted to respectfully lick the alpha's muzzle.

As Alpha took hold of the boy's neck, her gentle nature nearly brought her to step forward to intervene, however she relented. Alpha was merely proving his point on the matter of Sunspots joining, but still her heart jumped into her throat amplifying the pounding in her ears. She could only wait and see what would unfold.

His warning rang loud, clear.

Almost instantly, the throat he held was released.

Rising to the potential of his height, he chuffed, a bit lighter than before.

To both, his gaze swept between. And then with a beckoning growl, he turned.

Subordinate. Omega. We go home, now.

Expecting both to follow, he led the small party back towards the lake.

The choice was obvious. In fact, there was no other choice. Selena looked to Sunspots, offering a reassuring smile, then followed Khaba home.
